Body for Life day 1

To workout in the morning or not? That is my question. I would love to workout in the morning, but a 4:00am wake up is not easy. On the other hand it would be nice to have it done and out of the way once I get home. Hey, I don't enjoy working out in the morning or in the evening, so it's really the lesser of two evils.

I've started Body for Life (BFL) with my sweet husband who really does not need to do the program, but has decided that waking up with me in the early morning will be both painful and brutal, but worth it. I did what any normal woman would do. Asked (begged) for my husband to do this program with me, then grilled him to make sure he was serious about it. Because after all I can't have someone who isn't in this 100%. Even though it was me who begged/demanded he get on board. Details, that's what I say.

Day 1
Mentally still working out the details of this program. Turns out that it's fairly difficult to find chicken breasts the size of a fist/palm of your hand. Dinner proved a bit perplexing regarding portion sizes. The size of my tortilla was roughly the size of Nigeria so I tried to scale back on the filling to try and even out the meal. I had a decent amount of dry tortilla to get through before the beans and ground turkey. Mental note: easy on the tortilla size!

Workout was a physical challenge. If only this physical challenge included sliding down a slip and slide covered in chocolate sauce & whipped cream. Double Dare reference, folks. Unfortunately/Fortunately my workout didn't end with a human size banana split. Instead I was gifted with the inability to fully scrub my hair in the shower due to the complete exhaustion in my arms. Hello upper body workout. Needless to say, I slept well last night.

  1. I prefer a physical challenge that involves me trying to find a flag in a giant nose.

That is great that Scott is doing it with you! Ryan and I are doing it together too. I agree that it is so much better to do something like this with your spouse. Makes eating and working out easier, because you are both on the same page.

  2. i love this post. it really is tough to find time to work out. i have this constant battle. regarding morning workouts...i work at 7am so i'd have to get to the gym super early to get a workout in and a very necessary shower in as well--i'm a sweater. and i have zero desire to go after work, because i don't see my kid in the morning...the time between 4:30-7 is all i have of him on weekdays. ugh. i have all the excuses in the world. i'll live vicariously thorugh you!!
