Buffets and bars and strippers oh my!

Vegas! I'm going to Vegas this week and I'm so excited. I'm not going for a party, or to pretend I'm a stripper, or to get drunk and lose $2000, I'm going for work.

The good news is, is that I LOVE what I do, so it's more like...I'm going for WORK!

There's a massive photography convention, WPPI (wedding and portrait photographers int.) and I've decided that I'm going to spend the money and take myself on a little work vaca to hone my craft. I'm so so beyond excited. There are going to be some amazing photographers there and I can't wait to hear them speak.

I'm staying at the super LUXE Excalibur. You know, the one that looks like a children's play-school castle. It's cheap and cheap is the name of this trip.

I'll also be photographing a local family. They want to shoot around the vegas sign and I'm thinking that's such a cool idea.

Really, the only down side of the trip is that I'll be surrounded with tons of food and alcohol.
I literally have this sinking feeling in my chest just thinking about being around all that opulence and food and crap. I feel like an alcoholic about to walk into a 24/7 booze fest, except replace that analogy with food.

The thing I need to keep telling myself is that I have control over what I do. Bad food makes me feel bad. Not just physically, but more so emotionally. This is a week of positive things. Building my business, networking and meeting and talking to many of my photo heros! Food will not bring me down this week. I just can't let it.

I'll try to blog over this next week and check in with you all on how I'm surviving sin city.
Until then...wish me luck.

  2. I agree with this - food isn't just physical - its emotional, when we are on plan there is an emotional high and absolutely the wrong/too much food can as you say .....bring you down.
Excellent post - have a great time in Vegas ( I've never been to America but will visit one day)

  5. Hey, fellow Denverite. I just discovered your blog and became a follower. Have fun in Vegas and taking pictures. We sure have beautiful scenery here in Colorado to photograph, don't we? I'll be back for more fun here.

  6. Sounds like a great event for you! I prepare for such events by having a number of 100 calorie snacks just an arms reach away. Maybe that will help you. Keep them in your bag or purse so as temptation strikes, you can reach for something reasonable. Have fun, too!

  7. This may sound a bit silly, but I recently met an interesting girl who works at a strip club and I think she's not only beautiful, but smart and fun to talk to....do you think it's possible to actually date a las vegas stripper, or should I just forget about it?
