Project Unhealthy

Does anyone watch The Doctors?

I've seen it a handful of times. You know who the main Doc is? Travis Stork, the Bachelor from a number of years ago! He sort of bugs me though because he pronounces words like been, as in "I've been good", like bean. I've bean good. Bugs the crap out of me. But that's neither here nor there. I want to talk about the experiment he did. Project Unhealthy.

First off...project unhealthy-project look good naked! Hellr!

So the experiment was like a mini supersize me. The Dr. ate a horrible diet for 5 days and ended up packing on like 7 lbs or something like that, and raise his blood pressure by a lot! What I found most fascinating was how he talked about really being excited to eat shit food. He wasn't like how Jillian gets from Biggest Loser around crap food. She practically dry heaves. He would eat fast food, then 30 minutes later he'd feel like he was going to fall asleep. He felt like crap every time he ate crap food and then vowed to never do it again, but then 4-5 hrs later, he noticed himself wanting the bad food again! This isn't a new concept. We've all been there. But it is sort of neat to see a doctor really feel the addictive nature of processed food and sugar. It sort of takes some of the emotion and shame out of it. Like, hey, this happens to even healthy people! Even doctors! It's not just us fat people who feel like we have no self control sometimes.

What are your thoughts about it?

  1. I think it is pretty cool that he was honest about it. Whenever Jillian and Bob do their dramatic freakouts about junk food, it seems unconvincing. Did you see ths week's? When the people had their favorite food shipped out, Jillian said something like, "Oh, it smells and looks gross." My husband said, no, that's the problem. Cheeseburgers look really good and taste really good.

  2. That's really interesting. I find it fascinating he was drawn to fast food even though he 'knows better' and remembered it making him feel really tired. It's been a while since I've had fast food in the truest sense of the word, but I remember it leaving me feeling ravenous within a few hours of eating it last time. I thought - WTF? Did I not JUST consume a whole day's worth of calories!? Odd!

  3. I bet, behind closed doors, Jillian can't wait to get her hands on a big mac!

  4. I never knew that he was one of the Bachelor dudes! Eek. Never paid much attention to his pronunciation, though. I tend to enjoy watching that show and used to tape it, but have no time to enjoy it anymore.

I do recall hearing about him doing that, though. So crazy. I think maybe fast food joints put subliminal messages in their food to keep us junkies coming back for more! If that's even possible. I know I had to personally fight off the urge for a burger today, which is weird for me - I'm not too into red meat - but I mean, it is what it is.

Everything that tastes, looks, and feels good will probably always be forever out of our price range in several ways. Lol.

  5. Huh that is a neat story. I wonder if part of my success now is that I don't eat that crap and drink diet soda by the gallon..... wait I know it is!! haha.
