I'm just a little baby in this weight loss game. Teach me

OK, so here it is. I've been feeling bad for a while now. Pretty much started feeling bad after we finished body for life in May. Yes, I've lost 30ish pounds from my heaviest, and yes I lost 15 lbs on body for life, but I feel like I've been resting on that for too long. I'm not happy with how I look, and more importantly, I'm not happy with how I feel. Too much sugar, too many refined carbs make Katy something something.

I don't want this blog to be all, poor me, help me...but I'm asking for some help. There are a lot of people who blog who have lost a lot of weight. Now I'm sure many of you didn't just power through your 100 lbs, you had setbacks right? What did you do to move through those times where all you want to do is do nothing and eat fried chicken? I've been in this stalling period for a while now and it seems like nothing is going to pull me out again.

I spent 3 months totally feeling alive and like a different person on body for life and now I honestly just feel like a person sort of "faking it." I feel like part of me is slipping back into that same old person who I used to be, except I know I'm not her anymore...even though I feel like crap again. I've tasted what it was like to feel powerful, excited, passionate, healthy, strong, so in those ways I don't feel like I'll ever fully go back to "old katy" but I feel her creeping in more and more lately and it really just scares me.

I really hate the idea of posting this sort of blog every month, week etc...It would be easier to just sneak away into the land of lost blogs, but I really just need some insight. It's like I know what I need to do in a lot of ways, but how do I do it? I know, I know...just do it. But mother fucker, it's hard! Am I right?

  1. Yes you are right. But as long as you are aware of your errors you can fix them. So look long and hard and change it up a little to plow through it. smile.

  3. Here is my suggestion....go to Costco and buy the book entitled "Belly Fat Cure" by Jorge Cruise -- it is easy to follow....cuts out sugar, and it is a kind of carb swap system (I have not figured that part out??)...but, it works...I started eating like this in March...and I lose an average of 3 lbs a week. My hubby eats this way, my son...and he did not even need to get fit and he feels great...my oldest daughters bf in Cali and she is skinny...she started on Monday of this week...in 3 days she lost 4 lbs, and 1 1/2 inches in belly fat. Just give it a try...what do you have to lose...except weight and inches. I was real skeptical at first also...but, the meals are delicious...wonderful smoothies...and you are eating things like tacos, enchiladas, pizzas...just a modified version of healthy substitutes. I wish I would of found his book sooner. The other positive about this ... is the energy you feel each and every day... I lost and was in a slump for sometime... Along with this book, I have adopted some of the Clean Eating ideas...so basically I eat every 3 hours, breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and dinner...depending what time I eat dinner, I might have an additional snack. If you do this... make sure you measure yourself first...that is where you will notice the most change -- and if you go out to eat (which we do)...don't worry about it, just don't eat out 3 meals in a row...try to limit your eating out to 1 - 2 times.. Let me know if you try it.

  4. also Katy...you feel full, your energy levels soar...that is what cutting sugar out of your diet does for you...you would be shocked how much sugar things have in it. I actually thought we were eating realitivly healthy...we were following the heart healthy diet (hubbys heart doc recommendation)..but when we changed to eating this way...you would not believe the difference it has made in both of our lives...hubby is never tired, has more energy than he has had in years..he went from 210lbs to 180lbs -- I feel better than I have in a long time, and it gives me tons of energy...

  5. Hi Katy! I'm a new follower :) Sorry about your plateau, but don't worry--every body plateaus. (Sorry for the dumb pun, but I had to do it)

Have you ever tried a detox? It's not really for everyone. After we're back from our vacation this month I'll be doing something called the Fat Flush Diet. The first two weeks are supposed to be a little extreme, but it's great if you want to incorporate exercise while dieting. Supposedly you'll lose upwards of 15lbs in 2 weeks, and even if you gain some back, it's supposed to help with cravings and create healthier eating habits.

Regardless, cheer up :) I'm sure things will start looking up soon.

  6. hi love, i'm crawling out of a slump myself, so you probably shouldn't listen to anything i have to say! but i think you need some sort of body-for-life replacement, something to tag alongside you, bumping you in the right direction.

personally, i like setting a date. an event to work towards is even better.

  7. Maybe you just need a break? You could take a week or two "off" from thinking about dieting etc. I'm not suggesting you use the time to binge or so, instead try to just eat as healthy as you can but if you crave something unhealthy then eat that and don't feel guilty about it. Don't set yourself some exercises you MUST do but try to think of some FUN exercises to do and do those. Don't worry about what the scale says. And then you can start again hopefully with some new strength.

Or alternatively, just try to change the healthy habits you've been following for some other, just as healthy but different, habits.

Third suggestion.. go over your goals and write lists of the reasons why you want to change. Set up final goals, 3 month goals and daily goals.
