Meet Sue- Sue is like a second mom to me in the virtual world. Get to know Sue, she is so supportive and will leave you comments and pat you on the back when you need it. Sue is also donating some of her awesome headbands as weekly prizes! She's also lost a ton of weight so far and wants to lose an additional 30 lbs in the next 12 weeks. She's some mean competition and when she sets her mind to something, she'll do it. She's one of the lighter competitors in the bunch too, so 30 lbs off of her is a lot. Visit her headband site HERE.

Meet Erin- Erin has been my best friend ever since I demanded we share a locker in 7th grade. She's tall, beautiful, an excellent speller, funny, she remembers my childhood and events more than I do, she's stylish, and has probably been the most supportive person, besides my husband, on this weight loss journey of mine. She'd like to lose a little weight and tone up, but if you saw her you'd be all. PSHAW! You're perfect! She's my sis and I luf her.

Meet Charlie- I met Charlie almost about a year ago through my brother. Now Scott and I are friends with Charlie and his wife Jill (who's also competing.) Charlie is a tall strong guy and is "in it to win it." His words, not mine. He's a hiker and full on wine connoisseur and has been known to sport the craziest wild man hair you'll ever encounter.

I'll feature some more people tomorrow, but for everyone I don't know in person, feel free to leave your blog info if you have it, in the comments section. Let's support each other! I'll support you with sprinkles cupcakes, ok?

  1. Awww...I love this idea!

Now, my real question is can I get everyone's address so that I can send them home baked chocolate chip cookies or other things to sabotage them?

No? What's that you say? This is just for fun? We're not ACTUALLY on The Biggest Loser?

    Oh.

    FINE.

Then in the spirit of the competition, I'll say "Yay for getting to know others!" :) And thanks for orchestrating all of this. I'm sure it's going to be a pain in the a$$ at times.

  2. Hi, I'm Dani!

    My blog: http://dani31608.blogspot.com/

I'm a 35yo mother of three small children from Mississippi. I've lost around 130 pounds over the last two years but the weight has really slowed down after that first 100 (despite still having a LONG way to go!). I continue to try to kick start my weight loss so that I can get those pound-dropping "glory days" back but ... it seems impossible to do anything other than "slow and steady" while truly living life, you know?

Beyond food and fitness (I'm a wannabe runner), I'm a novice gardener, desperately trying to get back to basics as a family (... they are priority #1). We're trying our hand at growing (and then canning) most our own food and baking our own bread this year.

So that's basically me, busy attacking this whole health thing from the family angle.

Instead of competition, I'm mostly excited about the camaraderie that comes along with challenges such as this one. I can use all the support I can get! I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you and wish you much success!

  5. Hi, I'm Heidi. I had lost 18 pounds (starting at 244 pounds and 5 foot 8 inches) prior to starting this challenge and then for about ten days prior to this, I was like...hmm.. Well, maybe I'll just let things slide a bit until the challenge starts! Plus, I'm an RN in a NICU which is very busy right now, so exercise had taken a back seat to just working a TON! We are going on vacation next week and I'm grateful to have the extra money for our trip. However, we are going to be in the Seattle and British Columbia area for about ten days. So, I am very nervous about eating out so much! I know, all of you are glad I'll have it a little harder during our vacation and maybe not lose as much, right? *sigh* Hopefully it goes ok. We (meaning my husband and I: Michael J-he's also in this competition) are planning to exercise a LOT while we're there to hopefully continue to lose! His parents will be there to watch the kids so we can get out more and exercise harder! Mike drops weight so easily that it always frustrates me, but this time around I've been giving him a run for my money. We're so glad to be in this competition. He wants to lose from the 220's down to 185. My goal (initially, may decide to lose more) is to get down to 170. Glad to meet you all!!!!!

  6. Awe, Sue, you're so sweet. Trust me, I have some lbs. to lose. Eric and I took a ton of pictures of us - me in my bikini and him with his shirt off. The camera is pretty brutal, let me tell ya.

Yes, thank you for organizing this challenge!

  7. I'm Missy. My blog is at misspuddingfood.wordpress.com.

I'm a mom of one awesome five year old. I used to work as a geologist but was laid off two years ago, which along with finishing grad school, made me emotional eat like a crazy woman. Since being off of work, I think I've basically gained 50 pounds. Wow.

I've been really reexamining my life lately and trying to get out of a real funk. I am thankful that this challenge came when it did!

I live in the Seattle area, Vegemommy! As a veggie person, you will LOVE it here and BC! Of course, it's been cold - around 50-55 deg. and WETTER than our rainy season usually is! - the past month or so, which is not normal for this time of year! I hope it clears up and gets warmer for your trip. :)

  8. Hi! I started my 2nd real attempt at loosing weight in February when my friend asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. In that time I have lost 12 lbs. I started a blog at that time to help hold me accountable. I'm following Weight Watchers and just finished the Couch to 5k program. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to start running. I'm running my first 5k in less than 2 weeks. Very exciting! I'm looking forward to the friendly competition of this group. Friendly right? :)

  11. How sad that I stumbled upon this a couple days too late! What a great idea! I wanted to share that I've started riding my bike to work,13 miles round trip, and most of it is uphill(yup, uphill both ways and barefoot). Anyway, when I'm about to give up and walk the bike the rest of the way I say outloud to myself " I want to look good naked! I want to look good naked" and somehow this provides me enough umph to get my butt up the hill. Good luck to you all! I'll be cheering from the sidelines!

I am lafngirlkc if anyone else is on that free tracking site and wants to see me there :) I am 35 y/o single female that lives just outside of Kansas City, MO. I am currently looking for a new job :( but that just gives me more time to be healthy right? :)

I've had a headache for most of hte last 24 hours... lack of excess sugar and caffeine..but otherwise going well. Hope everyone is doing well!! (I'll get more competitive the farther we go along) LOL ~Alissa

  16. Hi,
My name is Jamie I am 25 years old. I have been an off and on again dieter since highschool. 2 years ago I got down to 256 and then life just hit me. I think it was more of those negative demons in my head. Telling me I am not worth it. I just moved to Wisconsin about 6 months ago. Minus the lack of friends I think this is the happiest I have been in a long time. I have taken the time to get to know myself and start loving myself for the first time. I am a behavior therapist for autistic children. I am currently down 31.2 pounds this time around. You can find my blog at icanhealmyself.blogspot.com

  18. Hi! I'm Amanda. I'm blogging for this at http://assinseat.blogspot.com I just have one entry up so far because I'm using this VBL contest as my kick in the pants to get started. I'm a SAHM to 4 kids and I'm currently living in Germany.

I'm with Dani: I'm most excited about the built in support that comes with this kind of set up. I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone. Thank you Katy for having such an awesome idea! :)

  20. Hi, I Amy!
I am married with a 1 year old daughter and a 12 year stepdaughter (gotta love those teen years), I'm currently living in Arizona (approaching the season where I curse living here everyday) and working full time as a project controller (worlds most boring job). And I like to use parenthasis(?)

I kicked my weight loss journey into high gear this year since I was approaching 30. I have lost 50 pounds so far and am hoping to lose another 55 pounds in the next year. I tend to lose all motivation to keep losing weight once I get under 200, so hopefully the support and a chance to win a bunch of cash will keep me motivated!
