Just call me Moby

So today is day 10. 1/3 of the way through the 30 day challenge.

Lately I've been doing some poking around on google to see if I can find anyone else who's gone vegan cold turkey (or cold tofu) kidding. I haven't been able to find much, but what I have found are some serious opinions. Serious yo!

Look, we're not sending a rocket ship to the moon, we're just cutting out animal products. I've noticed many people are in one of two camps on veganism. 1) They think you're crazy and putting your health in serious danger, or 2) They are already drinking the kool-aid and are a little self righteous about it.

Let me say that I have had a few people think I'm crazy, but I haven't had any first hand experience with anyone that's self righteous...so far. Most of these things I've just read about online.

So, in the service of trying to stay as "neutral minded" about veganism and trying to just report the facts (as it personally applies to me) here's what I think so far.

1) I can't say I have boundless energy just yet. Some days I think I feel more energy, but I can't be sure if that's because of the diet or other things. Like caffeine, which I don't drink much of these days, but I will have a chai or coffee sometimes.

2) The biggest change I've noticed so far is how things "move" through the system. I totally feel like I shouldn't write this, but whatever. Oprah hosted a week long vegan challenge and if she can talk about "movings", so can I. And now I've probably alienated like 95% of the population since I'm eluding to the bowels and oprah in the same paragraph. You're welcome.

3) The second biggest change I've noticed is how good I feel after I eat. I don't feel like crap after a meal basically. I don't feel like I'm in a food coma. Now, I didn't feel like this after EVERY meal, but I noticed on a regular basis that after a meal I would just generally not want to do anything. I would, but I wouldn't like it.

4) I'm honestly feeling less controlled by food. Here's how I know. Just this morning I went to our favorite coffee shop, Pablos. If you're in Denver, you should check it out. Anyways, they have vegan pastries and we've had one once. They're good. Old me would totally have gotten one...even though I just had breakfast. New me was like, eh. I turned down a pastry people. Hell hath frozen over. (at least for now)

Overall I'm pretty jazzed. Still focusing on the 30 days and not really thinking too far beyond that. Will we continue? maybe. Will we eat a steak on day 31? maybe.
I'm excited to keep reporting on what I notice :)

Stay tuned... if anyone's listening.
